A SING SONG OF NEVER SEVEN EVER/EVER is a series of prints Aleks Danko
produced at the Australian Print Workshop as a Collie Print Trust Fellow
in 2004.
Our home, our nation and our world are all made from coarse necessities
and fine dreams; imagination becomes the bulwark of pragmatism. The
concern Danko has for the wilful illusions essential to maintain house
and home exist in his works sympathy toward fragile belief systems and
in warning against becoming complacent in them.
In this new work, Danko’s ‘home’ of repeated pragmatism
is put to score. He makes multi-part harmonies by merging the history
and ethics of his own practice with the possibilities engendered by
multiple, overlapping, print techniques. Print and song, litany and
longing, these prints correlate to the repetition and cycle with which
we inhabit our world.
